In the midst of ready Qatar Jet Fuel Co. (Q Jet) – the company which is sole for suppler of Aviation fuel to all aircraft landing at Doha International Airport (DIA)- Q Jet is set to move to New Doha International (NDIA), with the opening of the new airport.
The company has rapidly trained and developed its staff in recent months at all levels especially on safety, fire-fighting and professional driving skills "defensive driving". In the conduct of a training for 150 staff on Fire Fighting in cooperation with the airport fire department , in addition to this Q Jet has trained 150 employees with coordination of QISC on Defensive Driving to achieve the target of accident free operations by year 2013, besides establishing Health, Safety and Environment system (H,S & E). Q Jet started to apply the most prominent themes in collaboration with ATG )specialized training company in the field of safety Management systems in aviation industry. During the period from 1 to May 4, Q Jet hosted the HS &E Course with Mr. Haidar Al-Salem ( the trainer and expert in this field) from the State of Kuwait, who delivered theoretical and practical applications of the program in Health , Safety and Environment in the aviation industry over four days, and on last two days Mr. Haider focused on tabletop emergency response plan, steps of evacuation procedure and fire drill was discussed based on the following scenario: Accident scenario "During daily fuel sampling process, refuelling operator observed a fuel spillage occurred from one of the main storage tank which resulted to a fire ignited by passing vehicle on service road " Based on the scenario roles among the trainees were delegated, such as evacuation of the building and calling of the fire department at the airport as well as the DIA Safety and the airport security and ambulance.
The success of the special On 04/05/2011 at exactly nine o'clock am a fire alarm was activated, and within a few seconds the fire brigade arrived. All the participants of the exercise from the various departments reported at the site immediately. The evacuation took place in quick time and fire extinguishing system manually activated. The situation comes under control within appropriate time. Later on, the management reviewed the whole drill, many suggestion were come across for the improvement of the response plan. Overall the dirll was successful with coordinated efforts of the participants. Management is satisfied with these programs which show the readiness of the company's transition to the NDIA with all ease.
