Fuel Farm Storage Facilities

Depot Operations serve as storage facilities for Jet A-1 fuel

Fuel Storage Facilities at Hamad International Airport

Midfield Fuel Farm & Western Fuel Farm

At Hamad International Airport (HIA), aviation fuel is stored, handled, and distributed through two modern, high-capacity fuel farms — the Midfield Fuel Farm and the Western Fuel Farm. Together, they form a critical infrastructure backbone that supports safe, efficient, and uninterrupted refueling operations at one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs.

Midfield Fuel Farm

Primary Storage & Hydrant Supply Hub

Strategically located near the central terminal area, the Midfield Fuel Farm serves as the main operational center for aviation fuel supply at Hamad International Airport (HIA). It is directly connected to the airport’s underground hydrant fueling network, enabling rapid and efficient Jet A-1 fuel delivery to all contact gates and remote stands.

Key Features:

•    Large-Capacity Storage Tanks: Multiple above-ground vertical tanks to meet operational JET A1 demands.
•    Pipeline Integration: Connected to the QatarEnergy (QE) pipeline for continuous Jet A-1 supply
•    Pump and Filtration Skids: High-efficiency centrifugal pumps and filtration units ensuring outbound fuel quality assurance
•    Automated Tank Gauging (ATG): Real-time level monitoring, temperature control, and leak detection systems
•    Fire Safety Systems: Fully compliant with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, equipped with firewater tanks, foam systems, and automated emergency shutoffs
•    Operations Control Center: Monitors inbound/outbound fuel flows, stock levels, and hydrant pressure in real-time

Western Fuel Farm

Secondary Storage & Operational Redundancy

The Western Fuel Farm functions as a Secondary Storage Facility, ensuring continued operations during peak demand periods, maintenance downtime, or supply disruptions. Its strategic location offers logistical separation to enhance business continuity and support disaster recovery planning.

Key Features:

•    Supplemental Storage Tanks: Designed for bulk fuel holding and overflow capacity
•    Dedicated Fuel Transfer Lines: Can feed the hydrant system or transfer fuel to Midfield via cross-connects
•    Tanker Loading/Unloading Bays: Facilitate fuel receipt via road tankers during contingency scenarios
•    Emergency Response Integration: Serves as a fallback control point with full HSSE compliance
•    Strategic Buffer: Ensures fuel supply resilience in case of upstream supply interruptions or airport-wide emergencies

Safety, Compliance & Monitoring

Both fuel farms operate under stringent regulatory and technical standards, including:
•    IATA JIG 1 & JIG 2 Guidelines
•    ICAO Annex 14 & Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) Regulations
•    Environmental Compliance: Spill containment, vapor recovery, and groundwater protection
•    24/7 HSSE Monitoring & Security: CCTV, access control, and emergency response protocols
•    Digital Integration: SCADA-based control systems for precise management of storage and fueling operations

Operational Integration

The Midfield and Western Fuel Farms are fully integrated with:
•    HIA's Aircraft Hydrant Fueling System (AHFS)
•    Into-Plane fueling operations via hydrant dispensers and refueller trucks
•    Airport Operational Databases (AODB) and airline scheduling systems

Commitment to Fueling Excellence

Together, these facilities provide a robust, redundant, and safe fuel supply infrastructure capable of meeting the demands of:
•    Qatar Airways’ global fleet
•    International airlines operating into HIA
•    VIP, cargo, charter, and military aircraft
They are managed by certified personnel, audited regularly, and aligned with QatarEnergy, Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), and international best practices.

QJET Service Stations at Hamad International Airport

QJET operates two dedicated service stations exclusively serving companies operating within the premises of Hamad International Airport (HIA). These stations provide essential fuel supply and support to HIA stakeholders, ensuring seamless operations within the airport environment.

Available Fuels:

•    Gasoline
•    Diesel
