What is Jet A-1 fuel?
Jet A-1 is a kerosene-based aviation fuel used in turbine engine aircraft. It complies with international standards such as DEF STAN 91-091 and ASTM D1655, featuring a flash point above 38°C and a freezing point below -47°C. Jet A-1 is the most widely used jet fuel worldwide.
How is Jet A-1 delivered to aircraft?
At major airports like Hamad International Airport (HIA), Jet A-1 is delivered through:
• Underground hydrant fueling systems for direct refueling at contact stands.
• Mobile fuel bowsers ranging (capacity: 20,000 to 60,000 liters) used at remote and hard-stand positions.
All fueling operations are performed by trained operators in full compliance with International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Joint Inspection Group (JIG) safety protocols.
